Introduction
The GPU is often the most expensive component. Installing it correctly ensures full performance, proper power delivery, and case compatibility. In short, the GPU installed on the motherboard, powered by the PSU, lives in the case.
Steps
- Remove appropriate PCIe slot covers from the case.
- Locate the PCIe x16 slot (usually closest to CPU).
- Insert GPU evenly until it locks.
- Secure screws on the expansion bracket.
- Connect required PCIe power cables.
Compatibility Tips
- Measure GPU length against case clearance (esp. 350mm+ cards).
- Ensure PSU has matching connectors (single or dual 8-pin) or includes 12VHPWR adapter.
- Verify motherboard supports required PCIe version (3.0 or 4.0+).
Troubleshooting
- No display or no POST: Re-seat GPU, verify power cables.
- Noise or coil whine: Try different PCIe slots or cable positions.
